A cautionary tale about the dangers of pride and false wisdom, this classic is told with wit and humor. When Petunia, the silly goose, stumbles upon a book outside, she quickly decides to own it so that she can be wise. Although Petunia merely carries the book around with her, she proudly bestows advice and “wisdom” on all the farmyard animals. Leaving behind her a wake of injury, sadness, worry, and suffering, Petunia carries on, getting increasingly more proud. However, when her “help” leads to disaster, a downhearted Petunia finally sets her pride aside and realizes that she must gain true wisdom.
