When young Momo turns three, she receives brand new boots and an umbrella for her birthday. Excited about her new gifts, Momo repeatedly asks her mother to use them but is told to wait until rainfall. Feeling impatient and unhappy, Momo must wait many days, until one day she is excitedly awoken by her mother to walk in the rain. Momo’s patience is rewarded, and she marks her independence as she walks the sidewalk like a “grown-up-lady” with her boots and umbrella. This simple story brings the reader along to experience the childlike excitement and sensory experience of the rain. Beautifully illustrated in sweeping vibrant colors, this charming work reminds us that patience is rewarded and moments are better appreciated when awaited with anticipation.
