Told from the perspective of a horse nicknamed Sherry, this classic recounts the early stages of the American Revolution with humor and some embellishment. Sherry is brought from England to Boston where she helps the British in their efforts to quell the American revolutionaries. However, the horse’s opinions soon change, and, after being recruited by Sam Adams, she becomes the horse of Paul Revere and plays a key role in his work. Being stabled near a window, Sherry also overhears news of many of the Revolution’s key events that she does not participate in. Cleverly written and wonderfully illustrated, this work is an entertaining companion to the study of the American Revolution.
