This playfully illustrated classic tells an enduring tale of a young boat who learns to leave his playful antics behind in pursuit of hard work and responsibility. Although descended from a long line of important and hard-working tugboats, Little Toot spends his days playing and having fun. Scared of the open sea, Little Toot prefers to play in the calm waters of the river, but his frivolous antics irritate the other boats. One day, feeling ashamed after interfering with important work, Little Toot makes the decision to change his ways. Filled with hope and ambition, Little Toot tries to help, but his reputation as a frivolous boat precedes him. Discouraged and lonely, Little Toot accidentally gets caught in a storm out at sea. However, faced with dangers at sea, Little Toot encounters an opportunity to not only overcome his fears, but also demonstrate his courage, good judgement, and determination to work.
